About the Office of Education and Training

Welcome to the Office of Education and Training, which is located within Environmental Health. The Office of Education and Training is comprised of three programs: Centralized Intern Training, administration for delegation of authority, North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board and the North Carolina On-Site Wastewater Contractors and Inspectors Certification Board. Our mission is to protect the public's health by:

• Managing Centralized Intern Training for new environmental health specialists.
• Processing of environmental heath specialists to ensure that established competency standards are met before these agents of the state are delegated authority to enforce North Carolina Environmental Health related rules.
• Ensuring that state qualified operators meet certification standards as set forth by North Carolina general statutes and rules.
• Assisting in the coordination of educational efforts for public water supply professionals.
• Coordinating continuing education efforts for state employees of the Division of Environmental Health.
